Registered Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy is a vital part of alternative and holistic healthcare that encompasses a person's mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.  Massage Therapy is used with professionalism and ethical approaches that are knowledgeable, current and relevant to the patient's needs.

Patients have many different reasons for visiting, but all treatments are individualized to their needs.  Generally the treatments are designed to assist the body's ability to return to homeostasis (balance) from injury, trauma or stress; to promote circulation and help flush toxins through the natural processes of the body, but in the simplest terms: massage therapy is used as a means to create an environment for the body to perform at its peak levels.

All treatments provided are focused on evidence and outcome-based techniques to ensure that the massage is providing as many benefits as possible.

Successful results will be produced and measured by a partnership between the patient's desire to achieve health and wellness and the RMT's dedicated care, attention to detail, and education of the patient.

As the Massage Therapy Act of Ontario of 1991 states: "The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain."

What is Reflexology?

A foot massage that is based on the principle that there are reflexes in the foot corresponding to every part of the body - example could be glands, organs and spine.  By applying pressure on these reflexes we can obtain the following results: stress reduction, improved circulation we can also help bring  body's functions into balance.

What is Swedish Massage?

Swedish massage is a blend of stroking, pressing and kneading different areas of the body to relieve pain, relax, stimulate, and tone the body. Massage does much more than create a pleasant sensation on the skin, it also works on the soft tissues (the muscles, tendons, and ligaments) to improve muscle tone. Although it largely affects those muscles just under the skin, its benefits may also reach the deeper layers of muscle and possibly even the organs themselves. Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system.
